St. Ambrose split four matches at the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament. The Bees defeated Indiana Southeast and West Virginia Tech and fell to Defiance and host Indiana Tech.
SAU outlasted IU Southeast 28-26, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 in the opener Friday afternoon.
Grace Beitzel led the way with 12 kills. Hannah Krouse and Sofia Pabon each had eight. Marta Barriguinha added seven kills and Emily Hickerson ended with four. Ines Marques (17) and Haley Doucet (15) combined for 32 assists. Kennedy DeBaillie picked up 12 digs and Adriana Diaz came up with 11. Marques was credited with seven digs and Olivia Hoskins had six.
The Bees closed Friday with a 19-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 loss to Defiance.
Beitzel put down a team-best 15 kills. Barriguinha had seven and Pabon added six. Hickerson, Diaz, Krouse and Olivia Johnson added two kills apiece. Marques recorded 15 assists and Doucet had 12. DeBaillie again led the team with eight digs.
Other than a hiccup in the third set, St. Ambrose had little trouble taking down West Virginia Tech 25-13, 25-16, 15-25, 25-10 Saturday morning. In the first, second and fourth sets, the Bees combined for 36 kills and hit at a .349 clip.
Beitzel led all players with 19 kills and picked up a team-best 14 digs. Krouse had eight, Chloe Fabry seven and Barriguinha six. Marques and Doucet paced the team in assists with 21 and 16, respectively. DeBaillie and Diaz each had 13 digs. Johnson was credited with eight total blocks while Hickerson ended with five. SAU totaled 15 aces with Diaz (four), Doucet (three), Beitzel (three), Marques and Rilee Talty registering multiple aces.
The tournament ended with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 loss to Indiana Tech.
Beitzel collected nine kills. Barriguinha had five and Johnson added four. Marques was the lone Bee with double-digit assists, finishing with 12. DeBaillie had 14 digs.
SAU will return to CCAC action Wednesday with a match at St. Francis.
