2025-26 Athletes of the Week

May 4

Elijah House - men's outdoor track
House won the 800-meter race with a 'B' standard time of 1:51.75 and helped the 4x800-meter relay team take first in 7:53.28 to earn the Outstanding Track Performer award at the CCAC Outdoor Championships.

Reinhart - men's outdoor field
Reinhart won the hammer throw with a distance of 63.12 meters and placed third out of 16 in the shot put with his throw of 15.55 meters. This earned him Outstanding Field Performer of the CCAC Outdoor Championships accolades.


Apr. 27

Dominic Guzman - baseball pitcher
Guzman struck out 13 in a one-hit shutout of Calumet to earn the weekly award for the third time. A leadoff single to start the fourth was the only base runner he allowed in the 11-0 victory.


Apr. 20

Zach Priami - men's lacrosse offensive
Priami scored 11 goals and added 12 assists for 23 points to lead St. Ambrose to conference wins over Missouri Valley (34-0) and Midland (18-2). He had seven goals and seven assists in the win over Missouri Valley. 


Apr. 13

Leah Maro - softball pitcher
Maro earned two wins in a save during the week to win the weekly award for the second time this season. She recorded 17 strikeouts against just one walk in her 14 innings or work, posting a 2.00 earned run average.


Apr. 6

Carsen Theis - men's golfer
Theis opened with a 1-over 72 and followed that up with back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish with a 222 total at the WIU Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. He finished 15th overall in a field of 49 golfers.  


Mar. 30

Michael Bos - men's volleyball attacker
Bos recorded 22 kills against only two errors in 29 chanes (.690 hitting percentage) to go along with three blocks in a five-set win at Judson. He averaged 3.25 kills per set over the team's two matches and hit at a .579 clip.

Quinn Flanagan - baseball player
Flanagan batted .533 (8-for-15) with 10 runs scored and seven RBIs over six games. He hit safely and scored at least one run in each of the six contests. He reached base a total of 14 times for a .692 on-base percentage.

Gabriel Guimaray - men's tennis
Guimaray teamed with Sebastian Arevalo for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles before earning a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles to help St. Ambrose to a 5-2 win over Wartburg.

Catherine Meystrik - women's tennis
Meystrik and Julia Turek claimed the Bees' only doubles win, a 6-3 win at No. 2. She battled back from a set down for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 win at No. 4 singles, one of four SAU singles victories, to ultimately help the Bees to a 4-3 win over Wartburg.


Mar. 16

Dominic Guzman - baseball pitcher
Guzman struck out 11 over six scoreless innings to earn the win in a 2-0 decision over Olivet Nazarene. He allowed just two hits and three walks to win the weekly award for the second time. Guzman has not allowed a run over his last 16 innings.


Mar. 9

Bryce Vorwald - baseball player
Vorwald batted .529 (9-for-17) with two doubles, one triple and a home run to help St. Ambrose win three of four against Saint Xavier. Hit for the cycle in the series finale as part of a 4-for-6 effort with three runs scored and six RBIs.


Mar. 2

Sebastian Arevalo - men's tennis
Arevalo earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to help St. Ambrose to a 7-0 shutout of Simpson to open the spring season. Arevalo improved to 5-2 on the season in singles play.

Connor Bird - baseball pitcher
Bird needed just 78 pitches to throw a seven-inning complete-game shutout against Bethel (Tenn.). He allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out four.

Teylar Chatman - cheer tumbler
Chatman helped St. Ambrose to a first- and second-place finish at the Fighting Bee Classic. She contributed to every section of their tumbling numbers, competing a 2 to full, RO full, a jump combination ending in a tuck, and an RO BHS full.

Hadley Irwin - dance
Irwin helped St. Ambrose to a pair of first-place finishes at the Fighting Bee Classic with scores of 87.25 and 90.95. The Bees earned a 9.1 in jazz execution and 8.9 in jazz choreography, a 9.1 in pom execution and 8.9 in pom choreography, and a 9.0 in hip hop execution and 8.9 in hip hop choreography. 


Feb. 23

Taye Owten - cheer tumbler
Owten helped St. Ambrose to the Baker Classic championship with a team score of 95.10. The Bees earned 9.5 tumbling points in both difficulty and execution, and received 4.5 in standing tumbing difficulty and 4.7 in execution, followed by a 5.0 in running tumbling difficulty and 4.8 in execution.

Brady Teel - cheer stunter
Teel helped St. Ambrose to the Baker Classic championship with a team score of 95.10. The Bees earned 18.2 stunting points in difficulty and 18.9 in execution. He was a major contributor in all major building sections, including 2 mans, quads, baskets and pyramids.


Feb. 16

Dominic Guzman - baseball pitcher
Guzman struck out nine while allowing only four hits over six innings in a 6-1 win over McPherson. The first four outs he recorded came via strikeout.

Haley Scholbrock - cheer stunter
Scholbrock helped St. Ambrose to two first-place finishes at the Grand View VIking Invite. The Bees earned 19.8 stunting points in difficulty each round, and posted an 18.2 in execution in the second round.

Maggie Schreiber - dance
Schreiber led St. Ambrose to a second-place and first-place finish at the Grand View Viking Challenge. The Bees posted a score of 97.46 in round one and came back with a program-record 98.42 in the second round.

Abby Wolter - women's basketball offensive and defensive
Wolter earned offensive and defensive player of the week awards for the second time this season after averaging 29.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 3.0 blocks over two games. She was 25-of-30 from the floor and posted a pair of double-doubles.


Feb. 9

Aidan Fergus - men's lacrosse defensive
Fergus collected six ground balls and caused a total of two turnovers over two games for St. Ambrose.

Eric Gonzalez - baseball player
Gonzalez batted .625 with seven RBIs over four games. He collected five hits, including a double and a home run, for a 1.125 slugging percentage. He was also perfect defensively in 15 chances.

Leah Maro - softball pitcher
Maro went 2-0 and earned a save over three appearances for the Bees. She struck out 15 overall 11 innings and posted a 0.64 earned run average.

Taylor Martin - softball player
Martyn was 7-for-8 (.875) with a pair of triples over four games. She scored five runs, drove in four and stole four bases to help SAU to a 4-0 start.

Kyla Shaw - dance
Shaw led the team to two first-place finishes at the Bethel Thresher Invitationals. St. Ambrose scored 89.79 in the first round and 91.83 in the second.

Cameron Washington - men's lacrosse offensive
Washington scored three goals and added five assists over two games. Two of those goals and all five assists came in a 19-8 win over Siena Heights.


Feb. 2

Dylan Grandon - men's indoor track
Grandon broke the school record and hit the A standard in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.52 at the Washburn Open. He also competed in the 600m dash (1:12.99) and was part of the 4x400m relay (3:20.79).


Jan. 26

Joe Reinhart - men's indoor field
Reinhart set a school record in the weight throw at the University of Iowa Larry Wieczorek Invitational with a conference-best throw of 18.47 meters. That was good for the NAIA B standard. He later won the weight throw (17.26m) and shot put (14.83m) at the Fighting Bee Invitational.


Dec. 1

Abby Wolter - women's basketball offensive and defensive
Wolter led St. Ambrose in points (22), rebounds (11), steals (6), assists (5) and blocked shots (2) in a 75-69 win over Viterbo to win both the offensive and defensive player of the week awards.


Nov. 3

Guiseppe Guerra - men's wrestling
Guerra won a pair of matches, including a 5-4 decision over the No. 11-ranked wrestler in the NAIA at 141 pounds. He helped St. Ambrose to three straight dual wins to open the season.


Oct. 27

Caden McDermott - football defensive - Heart | NAIA National
McDermott intercepted three passes and was in on a team-best six tackles to lead St. Ambrose to a 47-14 win at Culver-Stockton. His three picks are one off a single-game school record.


Oct. 20

Alec Ponder - football offensive
Ponder threw for 302 yards and five touchdowns, including a nine-yard touchdown to Tre Jenkins on a 4th-and-6 play that gave St. Ambrose a 37-36 lead with five seconds left in the game. It was the second five-touchdown game of the season for Ponder.


Oct. 13

Kaitlyn Knoche - women's cross country
Knoche won the Indian Hills Invitational with a time of 18:30 to claim the honor for the second time. Her time helped St. Ambrose set a new school record total time of 2:14:21 in a 5K.

Ross Willerth - men's cross country
Willerth set a PR with a time of 25:52 in the 8K Indian Hills Invitational to win the award for a second time. His time was good for seventh overall.


Sept. 29

Jenna Horst - women's soccer offensive
Horst finished with three goals and three assists over two matches. She delivered two goals and two assists in a 9-0 win over Mount Mary and scored the tying goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over St. Francis.

Jacob Stoetzel - men's golf
Stoetzel earned the honor for the second straight week by placing ninth at the NAIA National Preview at TPC Deere Run. He opened with an even-par 71 before finishing with a 77 for a 148.


Sept. 22

Luis Ferbeyre - men's soccer offensive
Ferbeyre scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win over Hannibal-LaGrange. He also collected assists on two of the team's other three goals in the victory.

Jacob Stoetzel - men's golf
Stoetzel claimed individual medalist honors by winning the Loras Duhawk Fall Invitational with a 1-over 145. That included a second-round 1-under 71.


Sept. 15

Kaitlyn Knoche - women's cross country
Knoche's time of 23:49 in the 6K was the best mark in the Fighting Bee Invitational at Crow Creek Park. She helped St. Ambrose win the meet as a team.

Ines Marques - women's volleyball setter
Marques averaged better than 8 assists to go along with nearly 2.3 digs per set over five matches. That included 42 assists and 17 digs in a 3-1 win at St. Francis. She recorded at least 20 assists in four of the five matches.

Ross Willerth - men's cross country
Willerth won the Fighting Bee Invitational at Crow Creek Park with a time of 26:21 in the 8K race.


Sept. 8

Grace Beitzel - women's volleyball attacker
Beitzel hit .293 while averaging 3.63 kills per set over five matches on the week. She collected 19 kills, 14 digs, 12 receptions and three aces in a 3-1 win over West Virginia Tech. That was one of four double-digit kill performances for Beitzel.

Carsen Theis - men's golf
Theis shot a 6-under 138 to place fourth at the Highaldn Championships. He opened with a 5-under 67 before carding a 1-under 71 the next day. Theis helped St. Ambrose finish second in the 21-team event.


Sept. 1

Mia Hefner - women's soccer offensive
Hefner scored three goals over two matches to help the Bees to a pair of victories. She scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Clarke before netting both goals in a 2-1 win over Benedictine.


Aug. 25

Adriana Diaz - women's volleyball defensive
Diaz picked up double-digit digs in all four matches on the week to average 4.0 digs per set. She had a season-best 24 digs along with seven kills against Clarke. Diaz also totaled 11 aces over the four matches.
