St. Ambrose picks up fourth straight victory
St. Ambrose ran its winning streak to four by taking down Trinity Christian 25-18, 25-23, 15-25, 25-22 Saturday in Palos Heights, Ill.
The Bees won the first two sets before slipping up in the third.
Trinity Christian (3-7, 1-4 CCAC) took advantage and carried that momentum into the fourth. The Trolls and Bees were tied at 9-9 in the fourth.
But five TCC errors - three hitting, one setting and one serving - helped SAU to a 5-1 run. After a Trinity point, Ian Cordes put down a kill before another Troll hitting error pushed the Bee advantage to 16-11.
It was a lead St. Ambrose (14-6, 4-1 CCAC) was able to maintain the rest of the way.
Cordes led SAU with 11 kills. Michael Bos finished with nine and Kam Dixon added seven. Charlie Flynn recorded five kills, Jon Guch and Zander Larson and three each and Kainalu Ka'ahanui ended with two.
Anthony Anderson had a team-leading 13 assists. Felipe Prieto handed out nine and Matt Cannon had seven.
Dixon picked up seven digs, Ethan Karban had six, and Anderson and Larson finished with five apiece.
Flynn was in on five total blocks.
SAU will return home to host Governors State Tuesday.
