Bio
Erin Smothers is from Countryside, Ill. She played club soccer at Eclipse Select Soccer Club and attended Lyons Township High School.
Smothers graduated from St. Ambrose in 2022 with a degree in Elementary Education. She joined the coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant while working towards her Masters in Organizational Leadership. Smothers is an SAU soccer alumni and played for Ambrose from 2017 to 2022. In her time at St. Ambrose, Smothers was one of the most decorated players in program history. She was a five year starter and holds the program record for career matched played (91) and career matches started (91). Smothers was a three-time first-team all-conference selection, and was a second-team all-conference selection twice. She is the first player in the program to earn all-conference recognition five times. Smothers also earned several academic awards for her work off the field, including being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2021.
She was team captain from 2019 to 2022. During that time, the team won the CCAC Tournament and advanced to the first round of the NAIA National Tournament.
