St. Ambrose drops pair against Benedictine, UHSP
St. Ambrose faced a challenging two-game stretch, taking on an undefeated Benedictine squad on the road before returning home to battle UHSP.
at Benedictine (April 11)
The Bees ran into a tough test against undefeated Benedictine, falling 26-1.
Benedictine surged early with an 11-goal first quarter, controlling possession and limiting St. Ambrose's offensive opportunities to just two shots in the opening frame.
St. Ambrose broke through in the second quarter when Morgan O'Malley scored off an assist from Cailey Kramer, providing the Bees' lone goal of the contest.
Despite the scoreline, several Bees contributed in key areas:
- Karsen Jummati: 4 shots, 2 ground balls, active on both ends
- Becca Schrage: 2 ground balls, strong defensive effort
- Maeve Flynn: contributed in draw controls and defensive pressure
- Reina Chrobak: 8 saves in goal despite heavy pressure
St. Ambrose finished with six draw controls and forced multiple turnovers, continuing to compete defensively against a high-powered offense.
vs. UHSP (April 18)
Back at home, the Bees showed improvement offensively but fell 14-7 to UHSP.
UHSP jumped out to a 6-1 first-quarter lead, capitalizing on early scoring runs. Karsen Jummati got the Bees on the board with an unassisted goal late in the opening period.
St. Ambrose responded in the second quarter, with goals from Jummati, Cailey Kramer, and Abby Vanderwarren cutting the deficit to 10-4 at halftime.
Jummati led the offense with 2 goals and 4 draw controls, continuing to be a key presence in transition. Vanderwarren added 2 goals, including a second-half finish, while Brooke Arendt contributed a goal and assist and helped control draws with four.
Additional contributors included:

- Becca Schrage: 7 draw controls, strong possession play

In goal, Reina Chrobak and Saige Carlton combined for 11 saves, helping limit further damage despite UHSP's offensive pressure.
The Bees showed stronger possession numbers, winning the draw control battle 16-7, but were unable to overcome early deficits.
