Bees fall at home to Missouri Baptist

St. Ambrose dropped a conference matchup Saturday morning, falling 19-4 to Missouri Baptist at home.

In the first half, Missouri Baptist set the tone early, scoring four goals in the opening quarter while holding the Bees scoreless. The Spartans continued their offensive surge in the second quarter, adding seven more goals to build an 11-2 halftime lead.

St. Ambrose found limited scoring opportunities in the first half, with Karsen Jummati converting an extra-man goal off a pass from Brooke Arendt, and Arendt adding another off an assist from Maeve Flynn.

In the second half, Missouri Baptist maintained control in the third quarter, extending its lead to 14-3. Morgan O'Malley scored for the Bees midway through the period off an assist from Becca Schrage.

The Spartans added five more goals in the fourth quarter, while Jummati netted her second goal of the game late to account for the 19-4 final.

Jummati led the Bees with two goals, followed by Arendt and O'Malley with one each. Arendt, Flynn, and Schrage each tallied one assist. Jummati also led the team in shots, putting up five. Arendt followed closely behind with four of her own, then Flynn and O'Malley with two apiece, and Eryn Cornwell, Raegan Dotterer, and Cailey Kramer with one each.

Defensively, Sharage earned four ground balls. Jummati tallied three, followed by Abby Vanderwarren with two, and Eve Hanlon, Arendt, and Kramer each with one. Jummati and Schrage caused two Spartan turnovers, while Vanderwarren tallied one of her own.

In goal, Reina Chrobak made seven saves in the first half, while Saige Carlton added three saves in the second half.

St. Ambrose is back in action at home on Wednesday, April 1st, at 4:00 p.m. as they take on the Culver-Stockton Wildcats.
