Rain delays spring start for a day at UIU Invite
It took an extra day, but St. Ambrose got its spring season started with an eighth-place finish at the Upper Iowa Invitational played at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
Rain stopped play Friday after a handful of holes forcing the tournament to an 18-hole event Saturday.
Addy Heineke led the Bees with an 89. Aleanna Mendoza shot a 91 and Lauren Callison was a shot back with a 92. Anna Hurning (97) and Gabrielle Langlois (100) rounded out the SAU five.
Playing as individuals, Tavia Dowell shot a 95 and Ellie Rude finished with a 96.
St. Ambrose finished with a 369 to take eighth. Wis.-Parkside won the team title with a 317. Parkside's Maia Becker claimed medalist honors with a 77.
The Bees will compete in the Judson Spring Invite at Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Ill., Tuesday.
