Spring season begins at UIU Invite
St. Ambrose teed up the spring portion of its schedule at the Upper Iowa Invite at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa, Saturday and Sunday.
The Bees shaved nearly 20 shots off their score from the first round to the second. All six Bees cut strokes Sunday.
Gabrielle Langlois led St. Ambrose with the largest improvement. After an opening-round 95, she fired a closing 84 to climb the leaderboard and finish 16th with a 179.
Amara Lytle also earned a top-20 finish. She shot rounds of 93 and 90 for a 183 and 19th place.
Aleanna Mendoza put together rounds of 94 and 91 for a 185. Caitlin McDonagh shot a 188 (95-93) and Anna Hurning finished with a 193 (97-96). Addy Heineke competed as an individual.
SAU opened with a 377 before finishing the two-day event with a 358. The 735 was good for sixth place.
Winona State won the team title with a 642 (332-310). WSU also had the individual medalist as Ellie Behring's 158 (80-78) was one shot better than the runner-up.
St. Ambrose will compete in Loras Invitational at the Meadows in Asbury, Iowa, Apr. 13-14.
