SAU hits 20-win mark with sweep of Judson

St. Ambrose scored double-digit runs in back-to-back wins to reach the 20-win plateau. The Bees improved to 20-12 overall by sweeping Judson by scores of 10-2 and 11-8 Tuesday afternoon at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

The opener went just five innings as the Bees took advantage of seven hits and four Eagle errors to win 10-2.

Brynnlin Kroymann's two-run home run highlighted a three-run first inning. Then after Judson scored twice in the third, St. Ambrose began to pull away.

Shea Meech had an RBI double in the third. Taylor Martyn scored on a wild pitch in the fourth. Then came a five-run seventh. Kylie Schult, Martyn, Reagan Engberg and Kroymann each drove in a run in the walk-off victory.

Meech and Martyn each collected two hits.

Leah Maro earned the complete-game win. She struck out five in her five innings of work.

The Bees had to battle back from a 4-0 deficit in the second game.

Judson scored four times in the top of the first before SAU came back with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Kroymann's two-run double was the big hit in the inning.

An inning later, Schult tripled to plate Meech, and a throwing error allowed Schult to score to put the Bees in front 5-4.

The Eagles pulled even in the third. But in the fourth, the Bees plated six runs. Kroymann added two more RBIs with a single while Reagan Engberg, Anna Engberg and Martyn each drove in one run.

Judson added two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh to account for the final score.

Kroymann, Meech and Schult each had two hits. Alena Holder also had a hit in the win.

Bianca Shorter got the win by striking out four over six innings. Maro pitched the seventh.
