SAU falls to No. 1 Grand View in final home dual

The St. Ambrose University wrestling team hosted nationally ranked Grand View on February 12, falling 51–0 in a Heart Conference matchup. The Vikings capitalized on bonus-point victories throughout the lineup to secure the road win.

Grand View opened the night with a fall at 125, followed by a technical fall at 133 to take early momentum.

At 141, Guiseppe Guerra battled in one of the more competitive bouts of the evening, dropping a narrow 7–5 decision in a hard-fought match that remained within reach until the final exchanges.

The Vikings continued to score bonus points at 149 and 157, earning technical falls to extend the team lead. At 165, Grand View added another fall before securing back-to-back pins at 174 and 184 to put the dual out of reach.

Grand View closed the night with a decision at 197 and a first-period fall at 285 to complete the 51–0 team result.

AJ Trendle (125 pounds), Mitchell Murphy (133 pounds), Georgino Moraga (149 pounds), Treagan Hansen (157 pounds), Jean-Luc Guerra (165 pounds), Callan Hursey (174 pounds), Nicolas Makwala (184 pounds), Jeremiah Morris (197 pounds), Tyler Casey (285 pounds) wrestled for the Bees.

Despite the outcome, the Bees gained valuable experience against one of the nation's top teams as the postseason approaches. St. Ambrose will look to apply lessons from the matchup as conference competition continues.

St. Ambrose travels to Oskaloosa, Iowa, on February 20th and 21st for the Heart Championships.
