St. Ambrose goes 1-3 at Missouri Valley Duals

The St. Ambrose University wrestling team showcased balance, resilience, and bonus-point potential at the Valley Duals, posting a 42–3 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan, narrowly falling to Dakota Wesleyan (23–20), Avila (29–23), and Lindsey Wilson (32–16) in a series of highly competitive duals.

Across the event, the Bees picked up multiple falls, technical falls, and close decision victories. 

St. Ambrose vs. Avila – L, 29–23

The Bees earned four victories and three falls against Avila but came up just short as the Eagles used bonus points at key weights to edge the dual.

Guiseppe Guerra (141) earned a first-period fall, while Berett Callison (165) picked up a 17–0 technical fall. Brody Schmidt (174) and Colin O'Grady (184) each delivered momentum-shifting pins, keeping St. Ambrose within striking distance throughout the dual. Avila sealed the win with falls at 197 and 285.

AJ Trendle (125 pounds), Georgino Moraga (149 pounds), Josh Zeman (157 pounds), Jeremiah Morris (197 pounds), and Keandre Miles (285 pounds) wrestled for the Bees.

St. Ambrose vs. Lindsey Wilson – L, 32–16

St. Ambrose earned four victories in the dual, including three bonus-point wins, but Lindsey Wilson capitalized on bonus points in the upper weights to pull away late.

G. Guerra (141) and Zeman (149) delivered back-to-back technical falls, scoring 10 combined team points and swinging early momentum. Moraga (157) added a clutch sudden-victory decision, while Schmidt (174) earned a hard-fought decision win. Lindsey Wilson answered with three technical falls and a pin to secure the team win.

St. Ambrose vs. Oklahoma Wesleyan – W, 42–3

The Bees turned in their most dominant performance of the event, winning eight of 10 bouts and posting six bonus-point victories.

G. Guerra (141) set the tone with a first-period fall, followed by pins from Zeman (157), Schmidt (174), and Jeremiah Morris (197). Callison (165) and O'Grady (184) added decision victories, while forfeit wins at 125 and 285 capped the commanding team score.

St. Ambrose vs. Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) – L, 23–20

In one of the tightest duals of the day, St. Ambrose pushed Dakota Wesleyan down to the final matches.

Trendle (125) opened with a clutch 6–5 decision, and G. Guerra (141) followed with a dramatic 12–11 win. Zeman (149) delivered one of the day's most impressive performances with a 17–0 technical fall, while J. Guerra (165) added a narrow decision. Dakota Wesleyan ultimately secured the dual by capitalizing on bonus points at 184, 197, and 285.
