Bees' comeback falls short in 3–2 loss to Trinity Christian
St. Ambrose men's soccer team came up just short in a comeback effort Saturday afternoon, falling 3–2 to Trinity Christian College at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex in Davenport.
The visiting Trolls struck three goals late in the first half, scoring all three in an eight-minute stretch. The Bees could not capitalize in the first half, leaving the Trolls with a 3–0 lead heading into halftime.
Despite the deficit, the Bees responded with resilience in the second half. Just three minutes into the half, Jake Pollock put St. Ambrose on the board from a free kick in the 48th minute. The momentum continued when Emilio Su Gomez found the back of the net from a volley in the 66th minute, cutting the deficit to one.
St. Ambrose continued to push forward, earning three corners to the Trolls' one, but no one could be the equalizer. Pollock led the team with three shots. Gomez and Narnnam Kongsappaisal each trailed with two. Luis Ferbeyre, Kai Yoshikane, and Jörn Reck each recorded one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Dawson Yegge started in net and faced trouble early. Thomas Long came in for relief and made one save.
The Bees are on the road Saturday, October 18th, to battle Indiana Northwest in East Chicago, Indiana, at 3:30 p.m.
