Bees fall 3-1 to a tough ONU team

St. Ambrose men's soccer hosted the Olivet Nazarene Tigers on a humid Tuesday evening in Davenport, Iowa. The Bees lost 3-1 in a hard-fought battle.

The first half was very content for both teams. The Tigers outshot the Bees 9-3 in the first half, but the Bees were able to limit them to only one corner kick. Out of the Tigers' nine shots in the first half, Dawson Yegge was able to save the three shots that were on goal.

The second half got chippy, and the Tigers grew more aggressive. Within one minute into the second half, the Tigers scored to put themselves up 1-0. They scored twice before the Bees were able to capitalize on a free kick due to the goalie grabbing the ball outside the box, earning a red card. Narnnam Kongsappaisal aimed top left corner when the ball hit the crossbar, then the goalie, eventually hitting the back of the net. The Bees were able to outshoot the Tigers 10-8 in the second half but fell short 3-1 in their third conference match of the season.

Emilio Su Gomez led the team with three shots. Matheus Migueis, Jörn Reck, Joe Campbell, Elias Skogland, Hunter Lillie, Jake Pollock, Polvios Pelopida, Narnnam Kongsappaisal, Gus Stevens, and Joe Casebolt all trailed with one shot.

Dawson Yegge had six saves off of the Tigers' nine shots on goal.

The Bees are on the road Saturday, October 4th, for their fourth conference game of the season against the Holy Cross Saints at 11:00 a.m. in Notre Dame, Ind.
