Bees notch fourth win over the Wildcats
St. Ambrose men's soccer hosted the NAIA Culver-Stockton Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon in Davenport, Iowa. The Bees came out on top with a 3-1 victory at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
The Bees controlled the match in outshooting the Wildcats 19-11 and earning eleven corner kicks to the Wildcats four. With the tough pressure from the Wildcats twelve fouls, the Bees were determined to win the game.
Culver-Stockston struck first in the 30th minute with a penalty kick off a foul from St. Ambrose. Twelve minutes later, Jörn Reck answered with a beautiful free kick outside the box. Not even two minutes after, Hunter Lillie snuck in a goal with two seconds left in the half off a pass from Jake Pollock to end the first half and put the Bees up 2-1.
The Bees were not done yet. Three minutes into the second half Joe Campbell answered to secure the lead 3-1. St. Ambrose remained eager to score again, but the Wildcats held them off.
Luiz Ferbeyre led St. Ambrose with four shots. Followed by Reck and Campbell with three. Josh Simon, Lillie, and Pollock all noted two shots. Dylan Ollendieck, Berto Medrano, and Emilio Su Gomez each tallied one shot.
Bees' goalie, Dawson Yegge, noted five total saves off the Wildcats eleven shots.
The Bees are back in action Saturday, September 6, for a matchup with Upper Iowa University. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
