Renz finishes third at Viking Invitational
Keegan Renz fired a 1-over 145 to earn all-tournament team honors at the Viking Invitational hosted by Augustana at Highland Springs in Rock Island, Ill.
Renz shot an even-par 72 Saturday to earn a share of the lead, but his 1-over 73 wasn't quite enough as he was forced to settle for third place. Augustana's Jakob Stefanowicz claimed medalist honors with a 1-under 143 (72-71).
Three other Bees finished in a tie for 29th place. Luke Purcell (80-79), Brody Miguel (78-81) and Vinny Messana (83-76) each shot a 159. Hayden Lee fired a 165 (84-81).
Their efforts helped St. Ambrose take sixth with a 622 (313-309). Augustana won the event with a 589.
A second SAU team placed ninth.
Nathan Newman led that team with a 162. He opened with a 77 Saturday before ending with an 85 Sunday. Carson Horner put together rounds of 83 and 82 for a 165.
Evan White (169), Grant Plym (172) and AJ Vittorini (177) also played for the Bees.
