Ballard, Bohnsack and Doleman named first team all-conference
Heart of America Football Postseason Release
Caleb Ballard, Kameron Bohnsack and Harvey Doleman were each named to the Heart of America all-conference first team Tuesday. They were among a total of seven Bees recognized as the conference announced its postseason football awards.
Ballard was one of four players named first team all-conference along the defensive line. The sophomore from Alabaster, Ala., split time lining up between defensive end and linebacker for St. Ambrose. He finished the season with 29 total tackles, including 20 solo tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Ballard also forced three fumbles.
Bohnsack earned first-team all-conference recognition as an Athlete. He was also selected as a second-team all-Heart wide receiver and return specialist. Bohnsack, a junior from Taylor Ridge, Ill., had 35 receptions for 770 yards, good for 22.0 yards per catch, and seven touchdowns. He returned 22 kickoffs for 577 yards (26.2 yards per return average) and four punts for 39 yards (9.8 yards per return).
Doleman gave SAU three first-team all-conference performers for the first time since the 2022 campaign. The punter from Nottingham, England, averaged better than 40 yards per attempt. Of his 11 punts, seven landed inside the 20-yard line and only two went for touchbacks.
Along with Bohnsack, redshirt sophomore Pernell Carter was named to the Heart Conference second team. The right tackle from Chicago, Ill., led an offensive line that helped the team average 412.0 yards per game, including more than 172 rushing yards per contest.
A trio of Bees received all-conference honorable mention - Nolan Obert, Colin Gudella and Kaden McCombs. All three were named second-team all-Heart performers last season. Obert, a senior defensive end from Quincy, Ill., recorded 57 total tackles and led the team with 18 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble. Gudella, a senior linebacker from Carol Stream, Ill., led St. Ambrose with 70 total tackles, including 41 solo stops. He was second to Obert with eight tackles for loss and also recovered a fumble. McCombs, a senior from Plainfield, Ill., lined up next to Carter at right guard to help power the Bee offense.
