SAU Rainbow 6 Siege team wins NECC National Championship
The St. Ambrose Rainbow 6 Siege team rolled to a National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) National Championship.
The Bees had no problem in bracket play, going undefeated over four rounds.
It started with a 2-1 opening-round win over Robert Morris. Then SAU defeated Kansas State JV 2-0 to reach the finals of the double-elimination bracket.
St. Ambrose defeated Tech Esports Red 2-0, and after Tech Esports Red battled through a 2-1 win over Robert Morris, the Bees faced them again, winning the title with a 3-1 victory Wednesday.
"We always knew it was us," team captain James Dubanowich said. "It's been in the script since day 1."
The SAU Nationals roster consisted of Brandon Busick, James Dubanowich, Brandon Edwards, AJ Haynie, and Josh Prowse. Dominic Fady, Calvin Horne, Patrick Sullivan and Jude Rotkis were substitutes.
This was the second national championship in Rainbow 6 Siege for Busick, Dubanowich and Haynie.
