Rocket League team qualifies for Heart Championships

For the third year in a row, the SAU Rocket League team capped off a great season with another playoff appearance.

St. Ambrose completed the regular season with a 6-2 record. That was enough to earn the No. 3 seed in the Heart of America Conference Championships in Overland Park, Kan.

The Bees fell to No. 2 Central Methodist and then No. 4 Missouri Valley both by 4-2 scores. Top-seed Columbia ultimately won the conference crown.

Competing for St. Ambrose were Ryan Kruse, Jacob Lawless, Kyle Schelonka and Thomas Noller.

"This season was extra special because the varsity team has three seniors and one graduate student who will be leaving SAU in May," SAU Esports Director Keith Hamaker said. "Getting to compete in the Heart of America conference has been an amazing experience and has been filled with a lot of goals, saves, and fun. Congratulations to Ryan, Jacob, Kyle, and Thomas on a great Collegiate Rocket League career!"

The SAU Esports program will have its Overwatch and Super Smash Bros. teams compete at Illinois College for the Midwest Valley Esports Conference (MVEC) finals next weekend. The SAU Overwatch team finished the regular season undefeated.
