St. Ambrose places fifth at Honeypot 7
The St. Ambrose Super Smash Bros. team rallied as an 11th seed to finish fifth at Honeypot 7, a regional Esports tournament hosted at the TBK Bank Sports & Entertainment Complex in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Competing in the "Collegiate Crew Battle," SAU earned the No. 11 seed among 14 teams. But the Bees made a run in the bracket.
St. Ambrose first defeated MNST Purple 2-0 to advance to the winners quarterfinals. A 2-0 loss to Maryville University, dropped the Bees into the losers' bracket. But there, SAU bounced back with wins over UWRFEsports (2-0) and MCC (2-0). St. Ambrose's run ended there with a 2-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan in the quarters.
UNCG ultimately defeated Maryville University 3-0 in the Grand Final.
