SAU Dance wins second AMC Championship

St. Ambrose won its second straight American Midwest Conference (AMC) Competitive Dance Championship Saturday at the Arena of Southwell Complex in Columbia, Mo.

The Bees posted the highest two scores of the two-round event hosted by Columbia College.

SAU started with a 92.41 in the prelims before posting a score of 93.87 in the final round. That gave them a total score of 93.51.

That was more than enough to win the six-team event. Viterbo was second with a 91.13 and Oklahoma City took third with an 86.69. St. Francis (86.25) was fourth, Columbia finished fifth and Saint Xavier ended in sixth place.

Competing for St. Ambrose were Maddy Barnes, Lilly Bonnet, Shea Denahy, Morgan Ford, Sara Gundacker, Hadley Irwin, Karsyn Kuffler, Karli Langley, Brooklyn McBride, Evie Miller, Emma Schoonover, Maggie Schreiber and Kyla Shaw. Grace Harms, Torrin Heritage, Madelyn Hohe and Sydnie Offermann were the alternates.

The Bees will now prepare for the NAIA Championships Mar. 27-28 at the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, Kan.
