Vorwald named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO --- Hitting for the cycle propelled St. Ambrose University's Bryce Vorwald (Lowell, Ind.) to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week accord, while a three-hit shutout on the mound earned Judson University's Yasiel Trinidad (Kissimmee, Fla.) the top pitching honors for the seven-day period ending March 8, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.

Vorwald capped off a 3-1 week for St. Ambrose with the cycle on Sunday, going 7-for-10 on the day in the doubleheader split with Saint Xavier University. In the finale, he went 4-for-6 with three runs scored and six runs batted in. All four hits came within the first four innings, as well.

For the weekend, the junior outfielder batted .529 (9-for-17) with two doubles, one triple and a home run. He also drove in nine runs, scored four more times and stole three bases.

Vorwald hit safely in each of the four contests and turned in a .941 slugging percentage.

The Fighting Bees are 8-8 overall and opened the league season at 3-1.
