Dr. Matthew Winarski was introduced as the Director of the Fighting Bee Marching Band in July 2025.

Dr. Winarski brings over a decade of marching band teaching and leadership. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Associate Director of the Marching Band at Otterbein University in Ohio and as the Assistant Director of Athletics Bands at North Dakota State University, and taught at public schools in Minnesota and North Dakota.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Athletic Band team at St. Ambrose University," said Dr. Winarski. "There is tremendous energy and excitement surrounding the Fighting Bee Marching Band, and I cannot wait to hit the ground running this fall."

Additionally, he has worked with both high school and collegiate marching bands across the United States and internationally, including the Banda Colegio De Bagaces in Bagaces, Costa Rica, and the Stabekk Skoles Musikkorps Smågardistene in Stabekk, Norway.

Dr. Winarski earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, followed by a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from North Dakota State University.
