Name: Sydnee Horstman

Sport: Competitive Cheer

Year in School: Senior

Major: Double Major in Digital Media Production and Public Relations. Double Minor in Graphic Design and Sports Management

Reason for Nomination: 

She is a four-year varsity cheerleader who also manages the team's media, she consistently brings unmatched energy, exceptional talent, unwavering dedication, and strong leadership that elevate both team performance and school spirit.

What is your favorite moment of the season so far?

Hearing our highest in-season score in program history (97.6) being announced at Grand View last weekend after having 6 starters out the weekend before. It was the best comeback!!!! 

What is your favorite post-match/game/meet meal? 

Culvers!

Favorite pre-game/meet/match song?

Power by Kanye West because he says, "got a nice RING to it."

Who inspired you to begin playing this sport? 

My twin sister. I was a gymnast growing up, and she was the cheerleader, but she convinced me to switch after Covid-19 hit.

If you could play another sport, what would it be? 

I like volleyball, wrestling, and football.

What is one fun fact about you? 

I don't have my ears pierced :)

Name: Caitlyn Thole

Sport: Basketball

Year in School: Senior

Major: Accounting with a Minor in Marketing

Reason for Nomination:

She is a senior women's basketball player averaging 12 points per game and starting in nearly every game, she provides consistent performance, experience, and strong leadership that anchor and elevate our team.

What is your favorite moment of the season so far?

Playing the #1 seed in conference, ONU, on senior night, and almost upsetting them. This was my last game I'll get to play at home for St. Ambrose, and the overall atmosphere and energy will be forever memorable.

What is your favorite post-match/game/meet meal? 

Chick-fil-A

Favorite pre-game/meet/match song?

Cold December by Rod Wave

Who inspired you to begin playing this sport? 

My older brothers inspired me to start playing basketball and all other sports growing up as well.

If you could play another sport, what would it be? 

I've never played soccer before, so I would like to try playing that.

What is one fun fact about you? 

I got kicked out of daycare when I was a baby for biting

Sport: Men's Basketball

Year in School: Senior

Major: Economics and Marketing

Reason for Nomination:

He is a senior men's basketball player averaging 17.6 points per game with an impressive shooting percentage, he consistently delivers high-level performance while bringing unmatched grit, toughness, and competitive fire to our team.

What is your favorite moment of the season so far?

The game where we win with a buzzer beater against the 5th seed.

What is your favorite post-match/game/meet meal? 

Going to Raising Cane's with Guillermo Narbona and his dad

Who inspired you to begin playing this sport? 

My Dad

Soccer

Everyone calls me Nacho, even the officials and my opponents. 

Name: Georgino Moraga

Sport: Wrestling

Year in School: Graduate Student

Major: Masters of Organizational Leadership

Reason for Nomination:

He is a graduate student wrestler, he demonstrates outstanding leadership, makes a significant impact on team culture and performance, and consistently delivers strong results on the mat.

What is your favorite moment of the season so far?

The Missouri Valley Invitational Tournamnet when I made it to the second day and my wrestling really started connecting.

What is your favorite post-match/game/meet meal? 

Definitly going to have to be sushi.

Favorite pre-game/meet/match song?

In Da Club by 50 cent

Who inspired you to begin playing this sport? 

My bestfriend Daniel Sierra when we were in middleschool told me that I should try it out and ever since then I had fallen in love with the sport. 

If you could play another sport, what would it be? 

It would probably play soccer as that is a sport that I grew up watching with my dad and still do to this day.

What is one fun fact about you? 

I have traveled to 13 different countries and most of them being European countries.
