Narbona and Jordan Named Athletes of the Month; Men’s Bowling Named Team of the Month
Guillermo Narbona (men's basketball) and Sarah Jordan (women's indoor track and field) were selected by the St. Ambrose Sports Information staff as the December Fighting Bees Athletes of the Month.
The Fighting Bees Men's Bowling team was named December's Team of the Month.
Narbona, a junior forward, reached his 20.8 points per game average over four December contests while shooting an efficient 54.4 percent from the field, including a scorching 54.5 percent from three-point range (6-of-11) and 78.9 percent at the free-throw line. He recorded two 28+ point performances, highlighted by a 30-point outing against Mount Mercy, and scored in double figures in all four games. In addition to leading the team offensively, Narbona averaged 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, logged 127 total minutes, and added five steals during the month, underscoring his ability to impact the game beyond scoring.
Jordan, a junior sprinter, opened December with a standout performance at the Frigid Bee Opener, winning both the 60-meter dash (7.72 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (25.72). Her time of 7.72 in the 60 meters set a new school record, marking one of the top performances of the season for the Bees. She followed that effort at the Finals Week Invite, where she placed fifth in the 60-meter dash finals after running 7.90 in the prelims and 7.95 in the finals, and capped the meet by winning the 200 meters with a time of 25.96, continuing her strong December on the track.
St. Ambrose men's bowling turned in a strong stretch of team performances, finishing fourth out of 25 teams at the Warhawk Open, fourth among 60 teams at the Glenn Carlson Invitational, and fifth out of 61 teams at the Collegiate Shootout, consistently placing near the top of large, highly competitive fields and showcasing the Bees' depth and consistency throughout the season.
Each month, the St. Ambrose Sports Information Department selects a Male and Female Athlete of the Month based on their exceptional accomplishments. A Team of the Month is also chosen to recognize collective achievement across all Fighting Bees programs.
